SAPS 271 - Application for a licence to possess a firearm
Certified copy of license. - If no license, sworn statement from current license holder. - DEALER - SAPS 350(a) Dealer to Dealer - SAPS 534 Individual to Dealer or Business to Dealer - ESTATE - SAPS 518 must be completed and signed by the executor of the estate - Letter of executorship - certified copy - Death certificate - certified copy - Copy of ID document of executor - certified copy - Transfer letter from executor - stating that the applicant is the heir of the firearm. OR - If not the heir that the heir is not interested in the firearm and that another person may apply for the firearm license.Two colour passport photos with a white background of the applicant. - Dimensions of a standard passport photo. 4 Certified copy of official ID or passport document on which the photograph and particulars of applicant appears. 5 Certified copy of relevant competency certificate (front- and backside) 6 Payment of R140 cash per firearm - We will file the certified copy of proof of payment 7 Detailed motivation - signed by the applicant. 8 Proof of applicants permanent residential address. - Please supply a certified copy of your electricity account (not older than 3 months) If not available: - Certified copy of persons electricity account (not older than 3 months) and a sworn statement from that person that you are residing at the address provided in the certified copy of the account. 9 Section 16 - Dedicated certificate Section 17 - Collector Certificate (Category A; B or C) - and endorsement from Association 10 Any other supporting documentation. (Highly recommended) - At least two letters stating that you have hunted or can hunt on a farm with the firearm should a license be issued. 11 If firearm was lost/stolen and not yet circulated back on the firearm system, a sworn statement from the OWNER of the firearm as to when and by whom firearm was given back. 12 If information with regard to firearm details (caliber; type; make & serial) differs from the information on the firearm system - a gunsmith certificate to rectify any details of the firearm. 13 SAPS 541 (Undertaking in terms of the Firearms Control Regulations, 2004) OR safe inspection by DFO.
